well its still been very busy for me with work and trying to keep the financial ends tied at home while trying to make christmas happen on the home front. we all know what that is like, more money going out that is coming in. we are almost done with shopping and all the gifts, just a couple more small ones to get. why is it that even though you have a plan to get done it never happens. maybe next year will be easier, not. but that's life, not some fairy tale.

hey all, had today off as an xtra day this week due to the holiday last week. was a great day, my wife also took the day off and we spent it together while our son was in school. we went to see to a movie, blind spot, it was a great movie. we both love sandra bullock and tim mcgraw, they were great together. well she is at the dentist now getting some work done, lucky her lol. off tomorrow too will go to my parents house to work on my van, needs an oil change, much cheaper to do it yourself. well the holidays are definately here, and the money is short as always, trying to rob peter without paying paul is a hard thing to do so we can buy presents for the family. working hard to juggle things to make it happen. well, that's life, not some fairy tale. will let you know how we make out later....

hi all,
well we made it thru the busy thanksgiving holiday rush at work. it is tradtionally the busiest week of the year for us. with wednesday and sunday being two of the busiest days of the year. they are traditionally the busiest traffic days of the year. this year was down a bit to previous ones. i think the economy played a large role in sales being down. we were staffed and ready for anything and all ran very well, we got everyone in and out very fast so they could all get to their families to enjoy their turkey. hope you all had a great holiday as well if not i'm sorry, but that's life not some fairy tale

a busy time ahead

well, it's that time of year again. the holidays are upon us. this is a tough time of year for our family because my wife lost her father almost 2 years ago. he passed away in janurary of '08 and is dearly missed by his loved ones and everyone to whom he called friend.

this is also a busy time coming up next week for me. thanksgiving week is just about the busiest week of the year at work for me. we should do almost 50k in sales next week with wednesday and sunday being the 2 busiest days of the week. hopefully all runs well and we take care of our customers very well.

busy day off

well, it's wednesday and my day off is all over for this one. not much of a day off though. i spent it helping family with some of their projects, which is fine with me, it's never a problem when you are helping family. first i helped my father clean his rain gutters out then went to my mother in law's house and helped her rake all the leaves in the yard. at home we went grociery shopping and got all the food we needed to fill the empty cabinets and refrigerator. the best part of the day was that my wife did not have to work today so we got to sleep in late, we did not get up until about 8:30am, which for us is late since we have a 3 year old who is usually up by 7 to 7:30am. well i have to go now, my son is done having his bedtime snack, a yougart, and it's time to read him a book and get him off to bed. that's life, not some fairtale.

sunday in the park

hey all, just another sunday of work for me. i did a lot of work yesterday around the house. i installed 2 new mirror closet doors, one in the front hallway and one in our bedroom. the only pain in the butt part was having to trim the runners down to size. i also put up some plastic around some windows to prevent drafting in the bedrooms, only one did not stay up, i guess the tension from the shrinking got to it so i will have to re-do it today. but for now i am off to work to take care of the hungry public. hopefully i will get home in time to see the end of the patriots game. i do have 2 tickets with tailgate passed for the jet's game in a couple weeks so that will be great. that's life not some fairy tale

same old same old

another day in this world. we are up early to get ready for another busy day. i will bring my son to preschool/daycare then come back home to get ready to go to work. i need to follow up on my 2 new hires and then my managers to make sure they are getting ready for our inspection next week. it is one i am doing on them to help get us ready for the one our district manager is going to do on all of us at our restaurante. we are always doing things by the book and we keep our place very clean, but this is an above and beyond white glove inspection because it is the first step in getting the restaurante recertified to become a training store. that is something it has not been since the district manager was the general manager of this location. the manager that was there before me ran the place into the ground and i have been working very hard to rebuild it and we have made some great strides to that end in the couple of months that i have been there. we have gotten standards for both product and cleaning back in order and also gotten rid of the employees who were dead weight and did not want to do the right thing and brought a bunch of new people in and trained them the right way and work with them to do the right thing every day. so now it is time to go and deal with keeping the ball rolling. that's life not some fairy tale.

the way it is

a long day today up at 6am to bring my son to pre-school then off to work. people that work for you should not ask you to help train them on what they need to learn if they cannot handle hearing the truth. when you are working on someones people skills and they have a tendency to go from an even keel to spiking to mt. everest when something isn't done perfectly right they need to hear about it. sensitive personalities are the toughest to work with. this guy will see something done not exactally right and hit the roof then continue to harp on the person about it for an hour instead of camly dealing with the problem in a training way and moving on. no-one wants to keep being pounded about the infraction over and over again, especially when it is not something that is an easy fix. if you cannot handle being taught the right way to deal with people and trained yourself without getting overly emotional and almost crying when you are a grown man, then there is a problem. that's life not some fairy tale

another day

well it's monday and back to work again today. up at 4am to be to work by 5am to do inventory and start another week of fun. running the busiest restaurante in your company has a lot of ups and downs. the bosses are always expecting you to be at the top of all the different catigories when it comes to sales, guest counts and average check. that is not always possible every week. for me it is about being consistant thru the year and not having a lot of ups and downs in the catigores. i know come the end of the year i will be on top in most of the major catigories that count in the end.

halloween

well halloween is just about over. we just got home from trick or treating with our son. he dressed up as elmo and was so cute. we just finished checking out and sorting his candy. like most adults we took out the things he will not eat and the ones that are too chewy and sticky for his little 3 year old teeth. then we put those aside for my wife to take to work with her for her students. it ended up being a great night weather wise for halloween which was real nice. hope you all had a great time too

saturday in the park

well it is saturday again and i have the day off from work. my son is going to a birthday party at noon with my sister-in-law and will be gone for a few hours. my wife is taking the mtel teacher certification test today. this means i have some time to myself to get some projects around the house done. need to start getting things ready for winter, like covering the built in air conditioner and putting plastic insulation covering over the windows, need to stop the cold air drafts.

hey does anyone out there play zyngo poker on facebook. it's pretty good, better than other poker sites i have found because people actually play like it is real money. on other sites i have found that people play like they don't care because they can get more free chips whenever they want so it does not matter. at this one, you either have to win them, buy them, or get lucky enough to have a friend gift you some. so they are harder to come by and you play more like it is real money. it is fun because i like to play poker and cannot afford to go to foxwoods and play for real like i used to do when i was single. oh well that's life, not some fairy tale.

a night at home with family

my wife's cousin's girlfriend/almost fiancee came over tonight. she is in college, going to assumption college in worcester. she is considering a career in law and does an internship at a law office. she is a really nice sweet girl and we love having her come over anytime. we actually love having both her and her boyfriend, my wife's cousin come over. they are great to hang out with and they love to come over for a home cooked meal instead of having the cafitera food at school. well getting late for our son so got to go and get him to bed. night all

day off

I took today off from work to be able to go to my son's halloween party at his pre-school/day care. it was great to see him in his costume, elmo, and playing with the other kids there. he looked so cute. i was the only parent there who dressed up, i was a cowboy, the other parents were kind of lame to not dress up for their kids. i took a lot of pictures to share with my wife who could not get the day off. we will both be with him on saturday night to go trick or treating with him though. had some time to myself today, we have some company coming tonight so i will make sure the house is clean and presentable for guests, even if it is just family coming over lol. update more later...

some more general comments

another day in paridise here. home life is great. i love my wife and son with all of my heart. the problem is that i worry every day about being able to give them what they deserve. money is always tight and at this point i should not be having to live basically paycheck to paycheck worrying about not being able do the little extras in life. all i ask for is to be comfortable, having enough to go away for a nice vacation once in a while without having to worry will it break the bank and i won't be able to pay the bills on time. but that's life, the real world i live in, and hopefully some day i will have the money to give my family everything...

that's life not some fairy tale

hi all
just some general comments on real life here. why does it have to be that everytime you start getting ahead something comes along and kicks you in the butt. like you just get done paying off your car and then your family's second car kicks the bucket and now you need to go out and spend the money you would be able to save on another car. what's up with that? or you have a boss you like then your company does some restructuring and you end up with a new one who you do not get along with. we all wonder when will life get easier and we will start to be able to get ahead. granted i would like to hit the lottery and get rich quick, but i am also a realist and realize i need to keep working hard and stay the path and some time in the future i will be rewarded for all of my hard work. how long will it take for that day to come?
